Essay writing (निबन्ध लेखन) is one of the most valuable skills you can develop as a Nepali language student. Whether you are appearing for the BLE, SEE, or NEB, a well-written essay can lift your grade from a C to an A.
The Three-Part Structure
Every high-scoring Nepali essay follows a clear three-part structure:
- भूमिका (Introduction): 2–3 sentences that introduce the topic and capture the reader's interest. Start with a proverb, a question, or a relevant fact.
- मुख्य भाग (Body): 4–6 paragraphs, each covering one main argument or idea. Use transition words like तसर्थ, त्यसैले, अर्कोतर्फ, थप गर्दा to connect ideas.
- निष्कर्ष (Conclusion): 2–3 sentences that summarise your main points and offer a forward-looking statement or call to action.
Language Register
Use formal written Nepali (साधु भाषा) in all academic essays. Avoid colloquial forms. For example, write "गर्छन्" not "गर्छन् नि", and "हुन्छ" not "हुन्छ है".
