Reading comprehension (बोध परीक्षण) in the SEE Nepali paper is typically worth 20–25 marks. Many students approach it incorrectly — reading the passage first and then hunting for answers. There is a better way.
Read Questions First
Always read all the comprehension questions before reading the passage. This primes your brain to look for specific information while reading, making the process 40% faster and more accurate.
Keyword Underlining
As you read the passage, underline keywords and phrases that seem connected to the questions you just read. When writing your answer, find the sentence in the passage that contains the answer and paraphrase it in your own words.
Answer Format Matters
Comprehension answers in Nepali exams should be in full sentences, not bullet points (unless specifically asked). Begin your answer with the key word from the question. If the question asks "किन?" (Why?), start your answer with "किनभने..."
Vocabulary Questions
Comprehension passages often include questions asking the meaning of a word (शब्दको अर्थ लेख्नुस्). If you don't know the exact meaning, use context clues from the surrounding sentences to make an educated guess. Never leave these blank.
Time Allocation
Allocate no more than 25 minutes to the entire comprehension section. If you are stuck on a question, skip it, complete all others, and return with the remaining time. Never get stuck on a single question.
