Scoring above 95 in CBSE Class 10 Mathematics is determined by two factors: complete mastery of NCERT textbook and Exemplar exercises, and strategic execution on 4-mark Case Study questions.
1. Standard vs. Basic Math Strategy
- Basic Mathematics (241): 85% of questions are direct replicas of NCERT chapter exercises and solved examples. Prioritize straightforward formula substitutions and standard geometry proofs.
- Standard Mathematics (041): At least 35% of the paper tests higher-order thinking (HOTS) and unfamiliar real-world word problems. Practicing NCERT Exemplar and past 5 years' board papers is mandatory.
2. Case Study Questions (12 Marks)
Case study questions embed mathematical concepts (Arithmetic Progressions, Coordinate Geometry, Applications of Trigonometry) within real-life narrative paragraphs. Extract the numerical parameters into mathematical variables before reading the sub-questions.
