Board examiners operate under rigid marking guidelines created by the Curriculum Development Centre (CDC). Understanding this scoring rubric changes how you write answers.
M-Marks, A-Marks, and B-Marks
- M-Marks (Method): Awarded for choosing and writing down the correct theorem, formula, or approach.
- A-Marks (Accuracy): Awarded for accurate algebraic simplification following a valid method.
- B-Marks (Independent): Awarded for specific steps (e.g. stating 'Let the ratio be $x$') regardless of subsequent mistakes.
Never leave a question blank. Writing the governing formula and stating the known parameters guarantees at least 1 method mark out of 4.
