In Standard Math, the difficulty lies not in the algebra itself, but in mapping geometric surfaces when solids are joined or hollowed out.
The Surface Area Addition Error
When a cone is mounted on a hemisphere, many students calculate: $\text{Total Area} = \text{Total Area of Cone} + \text{Total Area of Hemisphere}$. This is completely wrong because the contacting circular base is concealed inside. The correct formula is: $\text{Curved Surface Area of Cone} + \text{Curved Surface Area of Hemisphere}$.
